PROJECT BACKGROUND

This project was part of the new Metropolitan Hotel development by the Haptur Group. Executed internally by Hitech Interiors, Milestone was brought in as the landscape and exterior design partner for the Al Shif Shisha Bar, a central courtyard located on the hotel’s ground floor. Our scope was to enhance the courtyard with functional, aesthetic, and welcoming outdoor elements that would create a standout leisure experience.

DESIGN VISION & INSPIRATION

Surrounded by glass and open to the sky, the courtyard required a design that brought warmth, greenery, and intimacy while respecting the architectural structure. Inspired by urban green retreats, we created a space that blends nature with functionality, offering guests a tranquil environment to enjoy coffee, meals, and shisha.

DESIGN EXECUTION & INSPIRATION

• Large handmade vertical garden walls (3.5 meters tall), visible through glass windows, forming the focal feature
• Artificial plants combined with real planters to reduce maintenance while preserving aesthetics
• A central fireline table offering warmth and a luxurious lounge feel
• Elegant flooring and block works customized to optimize seating arrangement and ease of movement
• Custom outdoor furniture, planter boxes, and lounge seating crafted in Milestone’s carpentry factory
• Subtle, layered lighting enhancing architectural elements, highlighting plants, steps, and walls
• Strategic layout planning to maximize seating while maintaining comfort and flow

CHALLENGES & COORDINATION

The tight central location, limited space, and multiple concurrent contractors (glass, aluminum, flooring) required detailed coordination. Our team worked late nights and with phased scheduling to ensure seamless execution without disruptions. Despite these challenges, the project was completed on time with full client satisfaction

PERSONAL CONNECTION & REFLECTION

All vertical gardens were handmade by Sejal and her team at the Milestone office, crafted with attention and care. Today, Sejal regularly attends meetings at the Metropolitan Hotel through BNI, and sitting in the same courtyard she helped build brings immense joy and pride.
